PREVENTATIVE HEALTHCARE SCREENINGS

A Happier, Healthier You

We partner with businesses and employers to bring preventative health care screenings to your community.   Contact us to set up a screening at your facility.  We offer screenings for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA), Stroke (carotid arteries) and Peripheral arterial disease (PAD).

STROKE SCREENING

Carotid artery screening. These arteries supply blood flow to the brain.  We use ultrasound to visualize the carotid arteries.  The amount of fatty plaque depostion will be identified and quantified within these vessels to determine the risk for stroke.

Know your risk factors

  • High Blood Pressure

  • Diabetes

  • Heart disease

  • High Cholesterol

  • Family History Of Stroke

  • Smoking

  • Lack Of Exercise

  • Heart Arrythmia or AFIB

AAA (ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSM)

Also known as a silent killer.  The abdominal aorta is the most common site for an aneurysm.  An aneurysm is a weakening of the arterial wall causing a ballooning effect or enlargement of the vessel.  The risk of death from a ruptured aneurysm is approximately 80%.   Like the stroke screening, we use ultrasound technology to visualize the aorta.  Identification prior to rupture saves lives.

Know your risk factors

  • Male

  • High Blood Pressure

  • Smoking history

  • Family history of aneurysm

  • White ethnicity

  • Atherosclerosis

  • History of other aneurysms

PERIPHERAL VASCULAR DISEASE (PAD) SCREENINGS

PAD is the most common disease of the arteries. Fatty deposits or atherosclerosis cause a narrowing of the arteries making it difficult for blood flow to keep up with demand.  We evaluate blood pressures and waveforms at the arms and ankles.  Based on the values, an index number called an ABI is assigned to each leg.  The ABI is an indicator for the presence and severity of peripheral arterial disease.

Symptoms of PAD

  • Leg Pain Particularly when walking

  • Pain in the buttocks, thigh muslce or calf

  • Cool skin

  • Loss of hair on legs

  • Slow healing wounds or ulcers

  • Leg numbness or weakness

  • Slow growth of toenails

  • Change of color of skin
